Located in Town Hall, this department, newly created under the new Administration, is tasked with overseeing the processes by which building, planning and zoning applications, permits and general building code is handled and enforced throughout the Town of Stillwater. Ray Abbey - Building Inspector

The Building Inspector is also responsible for Building Inspections for the building department. He is charged with monitoring building projects and reporting findings to the Town Board. The department is responsible for enforcing the New York State Building Code. The Director also reviews applications for the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals who forwards completed applications and plans to said boards.

This Administrative agent for the Department is charged with setting the agenda items for the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals and acts as a "gatekeeper" or liason for the three arms of the department. All applications for said boards are processed through the administrative agent who sets board agendas. Applicants should direct all procedural questions here.

The 911 Administrator is responsible for the issuance of uniform 911 addresses to all new and existing properties in town. The 911 Administrator and the Director coordinate on new building projects to assign E-911 addresses to new homes built.
